| The first rule of business is “know your customer”. This essay focuses on the user’s perspective: what do tutors need to make OBL an attractive proposition? It dissects three customer needs: the need for engagement, logistical concerns, and pedagogical dimensions. Several suggestions are offered regarding each type of need. The overall goal is to encourage the structuring of OBL promotions and provision in ways that integrate easily into the working life of tutors.
