Publication 2012-01-23ZeitschriftenartikelMigrants, Mujahedin, Madrassa StudentsReetz, DietrichThis paper explores the diversity of transnational Islam in Pakistan. The paper argues that most of Pakistan´s Islamic actors are tied toeconomic, cultural and religious forms of globalization. The radical andmilitant forms of transnational Islam in the country are largely driven byfactors directly linked to Pakistan´s political and security apparatuses. It is suggested that the increase in militant activities in Pakistan stemsfrom the reluctance or inability of Pakistan´s government to introducefirm standards of law and civility. The paper contends that networkscentered on Islamic scholarship or Pakistan´s identity, are not per seviolent and threatening, but reflect the religious, cultural and ethnicconcerns of an expanding global diaspora of South Asian Muslims.Publication 2011-12-12ZeitschriftenartikelIndien zwischen Mehrheits- und KonsensdemokratieJürgenmeyer, ClemensPublication 2011-12-12ZeitschriftenartikelBehind the curtain of a Theatre StatePester, TobiasPublication 2011-12-12ZeitschriftenartikelNegotiating ethnic identity inthe HimalayaKukuczka, AnnePublication 2011-12-12ZeitschriftenartikelPolitics of pleasureGugler, Thomas K.Publication 2011-12-12ZeitschriftenartikelEverywhere is becoming the same?Mayer-Ahuja, Nicole; Feuerstein, PatrickPublication 2011-12-12ZeitschriftenartikelThe IITs in IndiaFrancis, SabilPublication 2011-12-12ZeitschriftenartikelChallenges for the national sustainability strategy of IndiaHauff, Michael vonPublication 2011-12-12ZeitschriftenartikelPublication 2011-12-12ZeitschriftenartikelPakistani Floods 2010Robotka, Bettina
