PARIS ACADEMIC NETWORK PROJECT - High speed metropolitan area network for research and educational

Abstract

RAP is an high speed metropolitan network for all schools of higher education in Paris ( Universities, Institutes, College of university level ) , the National Center of Scientific Research, the National Institute for Health and Medical Research. Thirty three institutions are involved in this project, that means over 120 sites, about 200 000 students and 20 000 teachers, researchers, technical personal and administration. A structure in dark fibre and DWDM, ATM and gigabit protocols, services with added value and an administration forming a coherent whole open to a large scale of possibilities for speed as much as for protocols and offered services.
