Libraries and Multimedia in the Digital Age
Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin
The paper examines the process by which a Learning Resources Centre is planned and built in the digital age. It will discuss the issues involved; the participation and co-operation of senior management, architects, facilities managers, librarians and IT specialists. Not least is considered the financing of the project. The paper proceeds to discuss the junction of IT with a traditional library and considers the unique nature of a learning resources centre in the specialist world of art and design. The opportunities for collaborative working between the separated functions within the Arts Institute are discussed.
