Inhalts- und Strukturanalyse bibliothekarischer YouTube-Kanäle

Abstract

Das vorliegende Datenkorpus entstand im Rahmen der Masterarbeit "YouTube als Informationskanal wissenschaftlicher Bibliotheken: Inhalte und Strukturen" im weiterbildenden Masterstudiengang im Fernstudium Bibliotheks- und Informationswissenschaft (Library and Information Science, M. A. (LIS)) an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.

Die Masterarbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Präsenz wissenschaftlicher Bibliotheken auf YouTube und untersucht die Struktur sowie die Inhalte von YouTube-Kanälen ausgewählter wissenschaftlicher Bibliotheken. Bei der Untersuchung der YouTube-Kanäle greift die Arbeit auf die Webformat-Analyse von Schuegraf und Janssen (2017), die qualitative Inhaltsanalyse nach Mayring und Fenzl (2019) sowie das Analyseraster für Erklärvideokanäle auf YouTube (AEY) (Heiland et al. 2020) zurück, die in Kombination eine systematische Analyse der Kanäle und deren Inhalte ermöglichen.

Das Datenkorpus umfasst drei Übersichtstabellen der im Rahmen der Masterarbeit analysierten Videos, u. a. mit Informationen über die Anzahl der Aufrufe der einzelnen Videos, URLs zu deren Thumbnails sowie dem Text der jeweiligen Videobeschreibung. Darüber hinaus beinhaltet das Datenkorpus das im Rahmen der Analyse mit Hilfe von MAXQDA entwickelte Codesystem sowie das Analyseraster der Arbeit. Das Analyseraster wurde speziell für die Masterarbeit in Anlehnung an ein bereits bestehendes Analyseraster entwickelt und eignet sich für die vergleichende Struktur- und Inhaltsanalyse bibliothekarischer YouTube-Auftritte.

The present data corpus was created as part of the master's thesis "YouTube as an information channel of academic libraries: contents and structures" (“YouTube als Informationskanal wissenschaftlicher Bibliotheken: Inhalte und Strukturen”) in the postgraduate master's program in distance learning Library and Information Science, M. A. (LIS) at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.

The master thesis deals with the presence of academic libraries on YouTube and examines the structure as well as the content of YouTube channels of selected academic libraries. In examining the YouTube channels, the thesis draws on the web format analysis of Schuegraf and Janssen (2017), the qualitative content analysis of Mayring and Fenzl (2019), and the analytical framework for explainer video channels on YouTube (AEY) (Heiland et al. 2020), which in combination allow a systematic analysis of the channels and their content.

The data corpus includes three overview tables of the videos analyzed in the master's thesis, including information on the number of views of each video, URLs to their thumbnails, and the text of the video description. In addition, the data corpus contains the code system developed during the analysis with the help of MAXQDA as well as the analysis grid of the thesis. This analysis grid was developed for the master's thesis based on an already existing analysis grid and is suitable for the comparative structure and content analysis of library YouTube presences.
