Nachhaltigkeit und Vertrauensbildung: Eine europäische Strategie für die „Wissensgesellschaft Ostsee-Region“

Abstract

Among the efforts to integrate the north-western countries of the former Eastern bloc into the New Europe the fields of culture, education and science are playing a specially important role. In particular the universities as a genuine European institution with a long tradition of liberty can help to foster a politically and culturally sustainable development towards a knowledge society in the Baltic Sea region. Thus, the foundation of a “Baltic Sea University” would be a useful investment in confidence building and economic welfare.
